Go Daddy Hosting Down? A post from NMSB

Favorite line "Well the issue caused more problems, like email not working, I decided to see what I could learn from the situation. I came up with two big lessons:1. Back up your website, imagine if we lost our site content? I just backed up this weekend so I wasn’t sweating it so much.2. Use a different provider for your domain name and hosting service. The truth is this, the hack was big enough to cause issues with all Go Daddy services, but this could prevent some future headaches."Get the whole story here

Go Daddy Email Outage

So after starting today off with websites not working due to Go Daddy's Outage caused by a hacker, I decided to use my aweber email to send some emails out and no luck. The hack caused some major issues not just with hosting, but also with email. I was able to sign in and use my aweber account but was getting failed messages due to the hack.

This hack was such a big eye opener today, I never thought one company could have that effect on so many other companies or platforms. I'm sure glad facebook didn't go down, I wonder where they got their Domain Name?

Did you have a similar issue today? Please share below.

Go daddy hosting hacked

Well starting my day today, I received a message from my Wordpress security, service detailing a change to my DNS settings had taken place. This was when I begin to learn that Go Daddy servers were down and had been hacked.

I have been thinking about moving to another web hosting service and this will definitely help push me in another direction. I appreciate the fact that most websites will have issues from time to time, but I never received any communication from Go Daddy with details about the outage.

Today my main site www.nmsmallbiz.com launched a video campaign for small business owners to leverage Google Adwords and I was super excited for the traffic coming in. Looks like I'll have wait until my site comes back up. This has me looking at host gator who I have heard good things about. They look better priced and have some cool security features built-in.
